This video lesson features a theoretically simple, but technically challenging Garcia first verse solo (circa 1989) from the Grateful Dead classic "Eyes of the World." This is the solo after the first verse/chorus. It's two chords....how hard could it be? Well, when it comes to sorting out what scales to use, it's actually not that tough.

The challenge is creating phrases that work, landing on the right notes, and doing it all at a steady, fast tempo. In this lesson you will use a few different positions on the neck, and explore concepts such as target notes, sequencing, and phrasing. Oh yeah, there's some SHREDDING, too!
