Althea features an interesting and much-loved intro lick. To me, the intro lick is a unique combination of a sort of swampy chicken pickin' (see the intro lick to "Amos Moses" by Jerry Reed), albeit slowed down, along with a melodious folk-style picking (check out "Puff the Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul, and Mary). Keeping the references strictly Dead, you could say it's one part West LA Fadeaway, one part Peggy-O.
